Large truck wheel hubs are generally made of three types of cast iron: gray cast iron, ductile iron and white cast iron.
1. Gray cast iron wheel hubs
The gray cast iron wheel hubs are usually molded by die casting, then processed into the shape and size they need by grinding, turning, etc., and finally, they are treated with heat treatment into almost defect-free wheel hubs.
2. Ductile iron wheel hubs
Ductile iron wheel hubs are usually made by casting process and heat treatment process to improve their mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.
Compared with gray cast iron wheel hubs, ductile iron wheel hubs have better strength and toughness, and can better meet the use requirements of large truck wheels.
3. White cast iron wheel hubs
White cast iron wheel hubs are usually produced by high temperature melting, static pressing of casting mold and other technologies.
During the manufacturing process, special attention should be paid to the manufacturing process and quality control of white cast iron to ensure that the wheel hubs exhibits stable mechanical properties and wear resistance.
